The Senior Designer shows initiative, is able to work independently with minimal supervision, and demonstrates ownership of project deliverables. The Senior Designer exhibits eagerness to learn and grow professionally and proactively seeks out growth opportunities while maintaining a strong commitment to creative excellence.

This position is focused on successful delivery of innovative, insightful and value added solutions to simple and complex client needs through design.

The Senior Designer assists in all aspects of project delivery within the studio, working toward the best creative solutions for each project by keeping client satisfaction as the highest priority. The Senior Designer works with a variety of MBLM team members and client or partner teams, and helps with mentoring and training designers and interns.

The Senior Designer is able to motivate others and has a team player attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with information gathering and the development of visual/verbal audits
  • Contributing viable creative concepts during the initial stage of projects
  • Participating in the preparation of  presentations, including internal critiques and meetings
  • Creating proprietary, comprehensive brand languages using words, imagery, color, graphic layout and fonts
  • Developing and implementing systematic programs
  • Coordinate and assists in directing photographers, suppliers and vendors
  • Developing and writing specifications and guidelines
  • Regularly communicating project progress to project managers and leaders, flagging issues that might affect the schedule and budget
  • Filing work on the appropriate server daily, entering time accurately and in a timely manner
  • Keeping current with relevant advances in our industry, and sharing news with peers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BFA a plus)
  • 4-6 years of related professional experience
  • Experience in either corporate or consumer design
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate work eligibility in the U.S.

Skills

  • Advanced understanding of design fundamentals including typography, layout and color, with special emphasis on brand programs or digital user experiences (one or both)
  • Expert knowledge of Macintosh software including Adobe Creative Suite, iWork and MS Office
  • Solid knowledge of print and/or digital production
  • Advanced drawing and hand-comping skills
  • Ability to multitask and to meet deadlines with consistency, while demonstrating strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of the principles of project management
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Solid understanding of MBLM offerings and disciplines

Criteria for Promotion

  • Demonstrated performance in the above requirements as evidenced by ‘Exceeded and/or Met Expectations’ scores in yearly reviews, during your tenure as Senior Designer
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently and effectively manage time, meet deadlines and provide creative solutions that help the team solve the client’s needs
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute strategic thinking and actionable solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in meetings and provide value added ideas
  • Typical time in this position is approximately two (2) to three (3) years
