The Staff Accountant is a position requiring an attention to detail and the ability to be proactive and analytical – a person who is interested in learning, crafting, and mastering the MBLM Operations. This role supports Operations and Finance, reporting directly to our accountant. 

Additionally, the individual will perform daily business activities and reporting related to payments, cash management, billing, and collections. Moreover, assist with process improvement to the functions and tasks across Operations. Utilizing a strong analytical mindset, this person should display an affinity for working with numbers, possess strong communication skills, and work well in a team environment. We expect the candidate to be curious and self-motivated and be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, financial reporting, managing day to day financial operations and other special projects as assigned.

Primary responsibilities

  • Support accounting team with monthly close process including timely preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements and supporting work papers
  • Provide teams with recurring reports and support through multiple platforms
  • Communicate and work with other offices on the reporting of intercompany transactions on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Support the finance team with accounts receivable and payment reports
  • Retrieve and book client/vendor payment information and client savings on a weekly basis and reconcile against the general ledger
  • Periodic inventory count and record keeping for any goods maintained in house
  • Manage Vendor W-9s, Filing of Vendor/Client Records and Assist with annual 1099 filing
  • Process and review Employee Expense Reports ensuring coding accuracy and adherence to policy
  • Monthly Credit Card and Vendor Payment Reconciliation
  • Ad hoc reporting requests

Requirements

  • 0-2 years Accounting/Finance experience
  • Exposure to journal entries, month-end reconciliations, AP/AR and other accounting areas
  • Great organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Great communication skills as there will be significant interaction with other departments and agencies within our organization
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter with ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excel required: (pivot tables, spreadsheets, queries, etc.)
  • ERP system experience or Deltek’s WorkBook is a plus
  • Media experience is a plus
