Apple Inc. slipped from fifth place in our previous study to eighth this year. Enhancement is now Apple Inc.’s top archetype, an improvement since our last study, though performance across other archetypes has declined.

Data was sourced from our most recent Brand Intimacy Study. To be ranked as a brand family, conglomerates needed at least 3 portfolio brands in our study. See Brand Family Methodology.

Head to Head

Apple has continued to fall further behind Alphabet in this year’s study, dropping another three places to rank eighth, while Alphabet secured the top position. This difference partly reflects Alphabet’s portfolio brands, which are firmly embedded in consumers’ hearts, including sixth-ranking YouTube and eighth-ranking Google.
