We are looking for a Senior Brand Consultant (SBC) to join our team in our New York City office. This is a full‑time, 5‑days‑a‑week in‑office position designed to foster in-person collaboration and team cohesion
Role
The (SBC) is an experienced professional who contributes to leading strategic projects, key deliverables, and colleagues/teammates within the consulting discipline. They pursue a standard of consulting excellence and ensure the strategies they create are smart, compelling, creative, and focused.
The SBC guides clients through complex challenges such as value proposition/positioning, brand architecture, messaging, naming, thought leadership approaches and content, brand campaigns/concepting, research, marketing plans, marketing segmentation, and marketing strategies.
The SBC will be involved in multiple projects simultaneously, and will work effectively with clients, partners, and team members. They will produce high-quality written content and strategic output, and they will also direct the efforts of other consulting team members by providing feedback and guidance. They are expected to be proactive, outspoken, creative, and to seek autonomy in their position.
The SBC is well-versed in the specific industries that MBLM serves, and demonstrates past experience delivering world-class strategic solutions for them. They will also have a deep understanding and passion for the range of MBLM’s offerings from consulting to technology, allowing them to effectively develop integrated solutions.
Responsibilities
Client Relationships
- Serve as a primary client contact for all key strategic issues
- Establish credibility and sound, professional relationships with client counterparts.
- Take initiative to understand the client’s business and industry and be viewed as a knowledge expert by the client; also provide that perspective to internal teams
- Consistently over-deliver and act as a trusted client advisor
- Effectively present to clients, deal with difficult client questions and run consulting-related portions of client meetings
Consulting Work
- Deep knowledge of some of our clients industries, and an ability to quickly acquire more
- Maintain high standards of overall work quality and end products
- Lead, with supervision, a variety of corporate, product, consumer, and digital brand consulting workActively participate in the production of work product, including defining themes and concepts, organizing slides, constructing frameworks, brainstorming names, and writing content
- Possess the ability to think conceptually: logically define information needs, drive facts to findings/insights, understand client organization and issues, contribute to strategic and creative thinking, and create actionable solutions
- Able to simplify the complex and organize information into logical constructs and systems
- Provide oversight of the work output of brand strategists in the consulting team, with detailed feedback to improve work in technical and creative ways
- Ensure processes are being followed, and help develop or evolve methodologies as needed
- Ensure project deadlines are respected in coordination with account and client leads
- Assist, own, and comment on company-wide initiatives

Skills and Competencies
- Expert command of the English language
- Must be a leader and a team player and able to work with people across all levels of MBLM
- Ability to own strategic processes and deliverables from start to finish with oversight from partners

Criteria for Promotion
- Demonstrated performance in the above requirements as evidenced by ‘Exceeded and/or Met Expectations’ scores on both case reviews and annual review during your tenure as Senior Consultant. • Demonstrated ability to consistently and effectively manage time, meet deadlines and provide strategic solutions that help the team solve the client’s problem.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively provide responsive services to the Studio team, the client (when appropriate) and other internal teams, departments, offices, etc.Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to consistently produce high-quality deliverables as evidenced by the creation of compelling strategic deliverables, strong analytics and the creation of logical and clear drafts of decks and other written materials.
- Demonstrated ability to lead workstreams with consulting team members, providing clear and actionable feedback to improve the quality and creativity of work products
- Demonstrated ability to actively lead and participate in meetings, while providing value-added ideas.
- Typical time in this position is approximately two (2) to three (3) years.
Primary Job Qualifications
- Graduate degree preferred
- Four-six years brand strategy experience
- Expertise in research, brand strategy, messaging, marketing and consulting
Salary Range
- $115-125K based on experience
