A Fresh Look for an Industry – Leading Firm

Reimagining the website of a financial pioneer

Challenge

Burford Capital is the leading global finance firm focused on law and a pioneer in the growing industry of litigation finance. The firm set out to create a new website that reflected the prestige of the company and offered a simple and sophisticated investor-relations experience for its shareholders.

The process began with brand development, in which MBLM worked closely with Burford’s marketing team to create high-level brand messaging to be used on the new website and across marketing materials. Based on employee insights and a review of competitive materials, best practices, and the brand’s existing content, new messaging was developed around MBLM’s brand intimacy archetype of fulfillment, which relates to exceeding expectations and delivering superior service, quality, and efficacy.

MBLM’s team then developed design concepts for the new website, each with a modern look and feel that represented Burford as a premium brand and a thought leader in the market. We then developed an advanced, user-friendly website that works seamlessly across all platforms and provides an inviting and straightforward online experience. The new site includes beautiful, responsive new layouts with subtle JavaScript animations and a clean, easy-to-use design. An extensive new thought leadership section was built to showcase blog posts, quarterly reports, and in-depth articles. We also optimized the site for SEO in accordance with best practices, integrated a customer relationship management tool to collect leads, and developed a simple content management system that makes it easy for a lean marketing team to update quickly.

Results

The result was a reinvigorated online presence for Burford. Visually, the new website has brighter, more colorful photography that captures the spirit of the brand and engaging layouts that add a new energy to the user experience. The Investor Relations section is simplified and allows for easy access to relevant resources and up-to-date information. The refreshed website is aligned with design elements from Burford’s print materials, making the overall visual identity of the brand more consistent across materials.

The completed website gives the brand a presence that is more aligned with its status as an industry-leading firm, assuring investors and clients that Burford Capital means premier and professional.
